I’m here to talk about the ubiquitous ice cube. The good thing about ice cubes is that they make liquids cold. The bad thing is that when they’re done doing what they do well they turn to water and dilute your favorite beverage. Now, if you’re talking about a glass of Kool-Aid, that’s no big deal. But what about an expensive glass of whiskey? You don’t really want that watered down, do you? Well, Sparq Home has some solutions that won’t water down your alcoholic solution. The company makes a set of four stainless steel whiskey “rocks”. They are polished steel cubes that you freeze, then drop into your favorite liquid to cool down. But then they don’t turn to water. They don’t dilute your expensive alcohol, and they’re reusable. A set of four Whiskey Rocks retails for $24.95. A set of four stainless steel wine pearls to chill down your favorite white wine is $29.95. And if you’d like to get your rocks in soapstone instead of steel, a set of nine will cost you $19.95. My wife wants to use them to chill her iced coffee so it won’t get watered down. But I’m not sure the fashion police will approve.
